Unlike standard green tea, matcha contains the whole leaf, dissolved in water then powdered - which is why it's so much more potent and nutrient dense than regular tea.
More recently, matcha powder has caught on in the western health world as a superfood tonic, used in lattes and raw treats. Some sources say it contains up to 137 times the antioxidants of regular green tea, and can increase energy, boost metabolism and protect against cancer. It's rich in chlorophyll, fibre, selenium, chromium, zinc and magnesium.
