The name says it all: this herb has long been considered a cure-all. Perhaps best known for its affinity for the female reproductive system - though it should not be used during pregnancy. Spiritually, it is associated with purification and therefore used in purification baths, and was also eaten as a vegetable.
Other medicinal uses include: source of potassium and sodium, digestive stimulant and nutritive tonic, diuretic, appetite stimulant, for relief of indigestion and as a breast milk production stimulant.
